Industry benchmark studies indicate that .NET/Windows platform can scale from 16,000 transactions per minute to over 500,000 transactions per minute. The IBM WebSphere J2EE/Unix technology, one of the best representatives of the J2EE genre, does no better than a 17,000 to 110,000 range of transactions per minute, at a much higher cost per transaction.
